Val d’Aran, live.

Every trail ends in Vielha

Five days of mountain races in the Aranese Pyrenees, from a 10 km evening run to a 163 km tour of the whole valley, and almost all of them finish in the same town.

HOKA Val d’Aran by UTMB runs from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 July 2027, based in Vielha. The races are separate courses, not labels for one: the Vielha 10K and the 75 km TDL from Bossòst open the week on Wednesday, the 55 km PDA leaves Salardú on Thursday, the 110 km CDH starts in Les at 06:00 on Friday and the 163 km VDA leaves Vielha at 16:00 the same afternoon. The 18 km SKY and SKY Promesas run from Pla de Beret on Saturday, and the 32 km EXP closes the week on Sunday.

The organiser publishes the numbers for every one of them. The VDA climbs 10,000 metres with a 48-hour limit and passes through Bossòst at 710 metres and over the Pòrt d’Urets at 2,520. The CDH goes through the old mines at the foot of the Mauberme, the PDA through Colomèrs, which the organiser calls the largest glacial lake cirque in the Pyrenees, and the SKY tops out on the Tuc deth Dossau at 2,522 metres.

Most of this happens far from a road, and much of it at night. A runner who shares a Livebib link gives family and friends a page they open in a browser, with no account and no app: the runner’s position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate in Vielha that updates as the race goes. When the phone loses signal in a cirque or a forest gorge, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated rather than freezing. The runner decides who gets the link.
