Experiència d'Aran - EXP

The organiser pitches the EXP as a race for everyone: people new to trail running, middle-distance runners, or those combining it with another race of the week. It is a circular route that, in their words, flies over Vielha, with 2,100 metres of ascent.

The checkpoint table shows two halves. The first climbs from Vielha at 967 metres to the Plan de Viàs at 1,434, drops to Casarilh at 9.4 km, then goes over the Tèrres dera Vila to Arties at 18.5 km. The second climbs to Santet Escunhau at 1,778 metres and the Tuc de Meddia at 2,221, the high point at 26.6 km, before a steep descent of more than 1,200 metres back to Vielha. Personal assistance is not allowed on the course.

Because it starts and ends in town, the people following an EXP runner are mostly in Vielha already. With the runner’s Livebib link open in a browser, they see the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, so they know when to leave the café for the finish. If the phone loses signal on the way down from the Tuc de Meddia, the position is carried along the course and marked as estimated.
