Two climbs between the Bidasoa and the Boulevard

A road race from the Bidasoa river in Irun to the centre of San Sebastián, with two real climbs and crowds most of the way.

The 61st Behobia–San Sebastián runs on Sunday 8 November 2026. The first edition was run on 30 March 1919, and since 2014 the race has had over 30,000 participants every year; 30,000 is also the cap. The distance is 20 km, not certified, from Behobia in Irun on the Bidasoa river to the Alameda del Boulevard in Donostia-San Sebastián, where the finish has been since 2000. Runners start in groups from 10:00, and the time limit is 2 hours 35 minutes from the start.

The organiser’s description gives the course 192 metres of climbing, almost all of it in a few hills. Gaintxurizketa climbs for 2.5 km and tops out at km 8. Halfway comes Lintzirin, then Errenteria, the short, steep Capuchinos at km 13–14, the descent towards Pasaia with views over the bay, and the Alto de Miracruz at km 17. From there it is downhill through Gros to the Zurriola, the Kursaal and the finishing straight.

With 30,000 runners, it is hard to spot one person in the crowds at Miracruz or along the Zurriola.
