From Mui Wo across Lantau, through the night

Four trail races across Lantau Island’s country parks, all starting from the river at Mui Wo and all coming back to it.

TransLantau by UTMB runs from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November 2026 on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Every race starts in Mui Wo. TransLantau100 leaves River Silver Garden at 19:30 on Friday: 104 km and 4,500 m of ascent with a 27-hour limit. TransLantau50 starts at 09:00 on Saturday, 45 km and 2,500 m in 11 hours. On Sunday TransLantau25 goes at 09:30, 27 km and 1,100 m in 6 hours, and TransLantau15 at 10:30, 15 km and 500 m in 4 hours.

The long race crosses both of Lantau’s country parks, out to Tai O on the west coast. The organiser’s description names Fung Wong Shan, Lantau Peak, 934 m, Hong Kong’s second highest peak, although the course profile it publishes peaks at 892 m. The organiser counts ten aid stations, among them Shui Hau, Shek Pik, Tai O, Ngong Ping at 50 km, Ham Tin, Chi Ma Wan, Mui Wo and Discovery Bay. The shorter races stay in the east and south: the 50 climbs Lo Fu Tau and runs the coastal trails to Discovery Bay, the 25 circles the Chi Ma Wan peninsula over Lo Yan Shan, and the 15 climbs Tai Ngau Wu Peak.

The 100 starts after dark, so a large part of its first night is spent on steep island trail between villages, and supporters in Mui Wo have a long wait. The runner can share a link to their own Livebib broadcast. Family and friends open it in a browser, no account and no app, and see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. Where the phone loses signal on a ridge or in a valley, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing. The runner decides who gets the link.
