The organiser describes the course as a traverse of both Lantau country parks, from Mui Wo to Tai O, on trails with steep ascents and descents, and its description names Fung Wong Shan, Lantau Peak, 934 m, Hong Kong’s second highest peak. The course profile it publishes tops out at 892 m. The organiser counts ten aid stations, among them Shui Hau, Shek Pik, Tai O, Ngong Ping at 50 km, Ham Tin, Chi Ma Wan, Mui Wo and Discovery Bay, before the finish back in Mui Wo. Ngong Ping is also where TransLantau100 runners may leave an extra drop bag.

The mandatory kit includes two torches with spare batteries, a survival blanket, at least one litre of water, a food reserve, for which the organiser recommends 800 kcal, and a waterproof jacket with a hood. Support is allowed only at tolerated checkpoints and there are no pacers. The organiser warns that village dogs at Ngong Ping and Tai O can be aggressive at night, and that the island’s water buffalo and feral cattle are protected. The time chart sets cut-offs at Tai O at 05:15 on Saturday, Ham Tin at 12:45, Mui Wo at 18:00 and Discovery Bay at 20:45.

This page covers the 2026 edition. A 19:30 start means the first night is run on the trail, with a 27-hour limit that runs on to 22:30 on Saturday. If the runner shares their own Livebib link, family and friends see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. When the phone loses signal in a valley, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated, never as measured.
