A cross border gran fondo from the fortress city of Elvas

The EuroBEC Granfondo is an amateur road event that rides between Portugal and Spain, rotating its host town between Badajoz, Elvas and Campo Maior.

The 5th edition is on Sunday 11 April 2027 in Elvas, after the 2026 edition in Badajoz. The start is at 9:00 and the finish is in Elvas as well. The start boxes open at 8:00, the first kilometre or so is a controlled start, and the finish line closes at 16:00.

There are three distances, all starting at the same time: the Granfondo of 150 km, the Mediofondo of 100 km and the Minifondo of 60 km. Part of the ride is in Spain, where the traffic authority only protects the race for a window of five minutes behind the front, so riders further back must follow the traffic rules and keep to the right.

The event is open to riders aged 15 and over, with the longest distance reserved for riders who turn 19 by the end of 2027. Road bikes, mountain bikes and tandems are allowed, but e-bikes are not. The field is limited to 2,000 riders across the three distances, and registration closes when that number is reached or on 9 April 2027 at 18:00.

The entry includes the official 2027 jersey, a finisher medal, feed stations, a buffet lunch, chip timing, mechanical assistance and access to changing rooms and showers. Riders without a Portuguese federation licence, including all foreign riders, are covered by the event's day insurance. Spectators will find the start and finish in Elvas.
