Three routes into the valleys above Bergamo

The BGY Airport Granfondo is Bergamo's road gran fondo, with three routes that start together in the city and can be chosen during the ride.

The 2027 edition is on Sunday 9 May. The race starts at 7:00 from via Marzabotto, the road beside the Lazzaretto in Bergamo, and the grids are open from 6:10 to 6:50. The first edition was held on 5 May 1996, and more than 100,000 cyclists have started the event over its history.

There are three routes. The Long covers 148 km and 2,800 m of climbing, the Medium 130 km and 2,100 m and the Short 91 km and 1,400 m. Each rider can choose the route during the race. Time gates decide it for the slower riders: at the Nembro turn towards Selvino at km 45.3 after 9:30, at the Ambria crossroads at km 72.8 after 10:45 and at the Val Brembilla crossroads at km 113 after 11:45.

The time limits are 14:30 for the 148 km, 13:00 for the 130 km and 12:00 for the 91 km. The event is held under the UCI and the Italian Cycling Federation and is open to riders aged 18 and over. Riders without a licence take a daily card and need a medical certificate for competitive cycling, and every rider must carry a windproof jacket, a spare tube and a pump.

Race numbers are handed out only on Saturday 8 May at the Expo Village at the Santini Factory, via Zanica 14, from 9:30 to 18:30, with no collection on race morning. After the finish riders go through to the medal and the final refreshments, and the pasta party prize draw runs from 12:00 to 14:00. Partial and final times appear live on the organiser's website.
