Estra Firenze Marathon, live.

A marathon through the art city, from Piazza Duomo

The Estra Firenze Marathon is an autumn road marathon that starts and ends by Florence cathedral, with a 10 km race on the same morning.

The 42nd Estra Firenze Marathon takes place on Sunday 29 November 2026. The organiser describes the race as running in art since 1984 and as an event that has captured hearts for over four decades. The field is limited to 13,000 runners, and the marathon is listed as sold out for this edition.

The marathon starts at 8:30 from Piazza Duomo, with athletes in their starting grids by 8:00. The 42.195 km course loops through the city and its riverside, crossing the Arno on bridges such as Ponte alla Vittoria and Ponte San Niccolò, running through the Cascine park area, and passing Ponte Vecchio, Piazzale degli Uffizi, Piazza Santa Croce and Piazza Pitti. The finish comes back past Piazza San Giovanni to Via dei Pecori, beside the Duomo. Refreshment and medical points are set every 5 km.

The overall time limit is 6 hours. There is a 3 hour cut-off at the half way point and a cut-off of 4 hours 15 minutes at km 30. Free pacemakers run for target times from 2h55 to 6h00, and runners slower than 8 minutes 30 seconds per km must follow the highway code.

The 10K Firenze Marathon is a FIDAL certified race that starts at 8:45 from Via Tornabuoni and runs entirely through the historic centre to the same finish by the Duomo, with a maximum of 3,000 participants. The organiser pitches it at everyone who wants to be part of the event but prefers a shorter distance.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, so the dot on the map is only as good as that phone and its signal. The official results and splits come from the Firenze Marathon organiser.
