Zumbro Endurance Run, live.

A 17 mile loop in Minnesota's Bluff Country

The Zumbro Endurance Run returns to the Zumbro River Bottoms in southeastern Minnesota on 9 and 10 April 2027, with 100, 50, 34 and 17 mile races.

Zumbro was founded in 2009 and is organised by Rocksteady Running with race director John Storkamp. It takes place in the Zumbro Bottoms Management Unit near the village of Theilman, about 1 hour 45 minutes from Minneapolis and St. Paul. The organiser is still in the permitting process for 2027 and gives the dates as tentative, and as an early season event a snow cancellation is possible.

Every race uses the same 17 mile loop, which starts and finishes at the West Assembly and horse campground area. The loop mixes rugged single and double track with rubble, loose rock and sand, plus runnable minimum maintenance gravel roads, and has four short steep climbs of about 300 feet. There is no pavement. The 100 mile race is six loops, 102 miles with about 13,500 feet of gain, and the 50 mile race is three loops with about 6,750 feet.

The 100 mile race starts at 8:00 am on Friday. The 50 mile race starts at 12:01 am on Saturday, so its runners begin in the dark. The 34 mile race starts at 7:00 am and the 17 mile race at 9:00 am on Saturday, and the event closes at 6:00 pm on Saturday.

If the river is high the organiser can switch to a high water course or, in a flood, a shorter loop on the west side of the river. Crews and families can follow the field at the start and finish area between loops.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and official results come from the Zumbro Endurance Run.
