Vermont 100 Endurance Race, live.

A 100 miler shared with horses in the Vermont hills

The Vermont 100 is one of America's oldest 100 mile races, and the only one still run alongside a horse race on the same weekend.

The Vermont 100 Endurance Race has been going strong since 1989 and is one of the oldest 100 milers in the United States. What makes it unlike any other is the concurrent horse race, with 70 horses on the course. The organiser says it is the only remaining 100 miler with one. The 2027 weekend runs from 16 to 18 July at Silver Hill Meadow, the start and finish.

There are two races on foot. The 100 mile starts at 4:00 in the morning and the 100K starts at 9:00. The organiser sums the event up as 450 runners, 70 horses, 17,000 vertical feet and 30 hours.

The Vermont 100 is part of the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning, the 2027 race marks its 36th anniversary, and all proceeds support Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. The 100 mile field sets off in the dark at 4:00, and the 100K joins the course five hours later.

Silver Hill Meadow holds the race start, finish and registration, and the organiser publishes pacer and crew information, the event schedule and directions to the meadow.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Vermont 100.
