The 32nd Umstead 100 starts at 6:30 am on Saturday 3 April 2027 at Camp Lapihio in William B. Umstead State Park, Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Umstead 100 is a 100 mile endurance run held every spring in William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. The 2027 race is the 32nd edition and takes place on 3 and 4 April. It starts at 6:30 am on Saturday and ends at 12:30 pm on Sunday, a 30 hour limit, with a soft cutoff at 8:30 am on Sunday at the 87.5 mile point, where the last lap begins.

The course is a 12.5 mile lap run eight times, starting and finishing at the Camp Lapihio headquarters. Most of it follows well kept multi use trails shared with cyclists and riders, with a short rougher section on each lap. Since a bridge closure in early 2024 the race has used an alternate lap with about 7,250 feet of ascent over 100 miles. The organisers hope to return in 2027 to the traditional lap, with approximately 8,000 feet, and both versions are USATF certified.

The race was designed to help people make the step from 50 miles to their first 100, with rolling hills instead of severe climbs, clear signs at every junction and glow sticks at night. Aid is never more than 4 miles away. Anyone who starts and covers at least 50 miles is credited with an official 50 mile finish. The 2027 field is full after the September registration and second chance lottery.

Crews and families spend most of the race around Camp Lapihio, where every lap comes through. Crew members may not use bicycles on the course. After 8:00 pm on Saturday the park entrance only opens on the hour, so plan arrivals and departures with that in mind.
