From the palms to the eternal ice

A triathlon that starts among palm trees on an Italian-speaking lake and finishes under the glaciers of the Eiger.

SWISSMAN is Norseman’s Swiss sibling on the XTRI World Tour, and it takes the full distance and drags it over the Alps: 226 kilometres with 5,750 metres of climbing, from Ascona on Lago Maggiore to Kleine Scheidegg at 2,061 metres. The swim is in the warm water of the lake at dawn; the bike crosses the Gotthard — including the cobbles of the Tremola — then the Furka and the Grimsel; the marathon climbs the last of it to a finish directly beneath the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Like every XTRI race it is run with a mandatory support crew, on open mountain roads, in weather that can change by twenty degrees between the lake and the pass.
