Laguna Phuket Triathlon, live.

From the Andaman Sea into the lagoons

The Laguna Phuket Triathlon has been raced since 1994 at Laguna Phuket on Bang Tao Beach, over an unusual set of distances: 1.8 km swim, 50 km bike and 12 km run.

The 32nd edition is on Sunday 15 November 2026. According to the organiser, the first race in 1994 drew 284 competitors, and the course takes athletes through the Andaman Sea, Laguna Phuket’s freshwater lagoons, coastal roads, hills and local villages before finishing inside the resort. The swim starts on the beach at SAii Laguna Phuket and ends at Laguna Grove, where transition, the start of the bike leg and the finish line all are. Alongside the main race there is a Sprint Triathlon over 0.5 km, 20 km and 6 km.

The day starts early. The 2026 schedule puts the pro men in the water at 06:30 and the pro women at 06:35, with age-groupers following from 06:37 in a rolling start of ten athletes every five seconds. The sprint goes off at 07:15, five athletes every five seconds, and the race finish closes at 12:30. The organiser’s rules ban wetsuits because of Phuket’s warm sea, and the 2025 booklet gave the November average as 27°C with 85% humidity.

A rolling start means nobody on the beach knows exactly when their athlete went off. An athlete can share a link to their own Livebib broadcast, and family open it in a browser with no app and no account: position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. Anything estimated is marked as estimated; if the phone drops signal, the position is carried forward along the course instead of freezing. The athlete decides who gets the link.
