Pontresina to Zuoz, by way of Val Roseg

Fifty-five kilometres of classic skiing that take the long way down the Engadin, through a side valley and past an airfield, to a finish in a village square.

Engadin La Diagonela is skied on Saturday 16 January 2027, the 14th edition of the race and the fifth World Championship event of the Ski Classics season. The 55-kilometre course starts at the cross-country centre in Pontresina and runs via Celerina and the Traumloipe to St. Moritz, through the Stazerwald forest into Val Roseg, back through Pontresina and Celerina, along the Samedan airfield and through S-chanf to the finish in the historic centre of Zuoz. The whole race is above 1,800 metres, in classic technique.

Ski Classics gives 09:55 for the elite men and 10:00 CET for the elite women. In 2024 the organiser’s citizen field followed in three blocks minutes apart, sorted by expected time: under four hours, four to five, and over five. The 2027 timetable is not yet published. The minimum age is 18. Around it the organiser runs a whole weekend from 14 to 17 January: La Saireda Roseg, La Pachifica (25 km) and La Cuorta (6 km), La Sfida in free technique, and on Sunday a new elite race from Zuoz.

A point-to-point course with a detour into a side valley is hard to watch from one spot. On Livebib a skier who carries a phone shares a link to their own broadcast, and family and friends open it in a browser, with no account and no app. They see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate for Zuoz that updates as the race goes. In the forest, where a phone can lose its signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated instead of freezing. The skier decides who gets the link.
