The day after the Diagonela
A new elite race that turns the Engadin weekend into a double: 55 kilometres on Saturday, and a fast, flat 30 on Sunday morning.
The Zuoz - St. Moritz Sprint is held for the first time on Sunday 17 January 2027 as the sixth World Championship event of the Ski Classics season. It is a mass start over 30 kilometres in classic technique, with the men away at 09:45 and the women at 10:00 CET. The organiser of La Diagonela, who announced the race in June 2026, gives the start as Zuoz and the finish as Celerina, and says it is produced for television. More details are promised to follow.
Ski Classics describes the course as short and flat, and the name explains the scoring: both Champion points and Sprint points are awarded at the finish line. That makes it a different race from the day before. Engadin La Diagonela on Saturday 16 January runs 55 kilometres from Pontresina to Zuoz through Val Roseg. On Sunday the same skiers come back out from Zuoz on fresh legs or tired ones, and a flat course rewards whoever has kept something for the line. The same morning the open La Sfida runs from Zuoz in free technique.
This is an elite race, also shown live on SC Play. What Livebib adds is personal: a skier who carries a phone can share a link to their own broadcast, and family and friends open it in a browser, with no account and no app. They see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. If the signal drops, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated, never shown as measured. The skier decides who gets the link.
