A 200 km Surrey sportive that tips into Sussex

The Surrey Monster is a 200 km sportive from Cobham Village Hall in Surrey on Sunday 19 September 2027.

European Cycle Events closes its 2027 season with The Surrey Monster, a 200km (125 miles) ride that tips into Sussex. The organiser asks whether it is the hardest and longest sportive in Surrey and says it is not the event for anyone hoping to wing it.

The key stats are 200 km and 2924 m of elevation, about 9593 ft, with three feed stations. The first feed station is at The Cricketers in Wisborough Green. The route will be on Strava, and the raw GPX file is emailed the week before. Expect some roads you may not have ridden before.

Doors open at 07:30 at Cobham Village Hall on Lushington Drive, the event starts from 08:00 and the ride closes at 18:00. That gives a maximum of 10 hours, an average of 20kph (12.5mph). Numbers and GPS trackers must be collected by 09:00, the tracker goes in a rear pocket and the number on the bars. The series target time is 7:00:00.

The trackers let the organiser find riders quickly if they have a problem or re-route them if they go off course, and friends and family can follow from home. A rolling mechanic and a mechanic at the start help with repairs. It is not a race, so ride by the Highway Code, carry at least three tubes and wear a helmet. Results are emailed out, normally the next day.
