Stramilano, live.

Milan's own run, from Piazza Duomo to the Arco della Pace

The Stramilano fills the centre of Milan on Sunday 21 March 2027 with a competitive half marathon and two open runs of 10 km and 5 km.

The Stramilano began on a Tuesday night in 1972, when 3,500 people ran 24.7 km around the city's ring road, with another 3,000 joining unofficially. It became the first non competitive run in Italy, and in 1976 a competitive race over the half marathon distance was added. That race, now the Stramilano Half Marathon, was first won by the Colombian Victor Mora.

The half marathon covers 21.097 km and starts at 08:30 from Piazza Castello, where it also finishes. The route follows the old bastions past Porta Volta, Porta Nuova and Porta Venezia, follows the city's avenues to the turn at Piazza Buonarroti and comes back to Piazza Castello. Timing points sit at 5, 10 and 15 km, and start pens are set by your expected finish time.

The open runs start from Piazza Duomo, the 10 km at 10:00 and the Stramilanina 5 km at 10:30, and both finish at the Arco della Pace in Piazza Sempione. They are for people of every age and ability, at any pace, and prams, wheelchairs and strollers are welcome. The finish closes at 13:00. Race kits are collected at the Centro Stramilano near the Duomo from 13 March.

For spectators the start in Piazza Duomo, with its cannon and brass band tradition, and the finishes in Piazza Castello and at the Arco della Pace are the places to be. The half suits those chasing a fast spring time, while the 10 km and 5 km suit families, friends and first timers.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, so the dot on the map is only as good as that phone and its signal. Official results and split times come from the organiser.
