Round the tip of Denmark and back to the fish quay

A race day at the top of Jutland, where every distance starts or ends on the harbour and the trail goes round the point where Denmark runs out.

Skagen Marathon is run on Saturday 3 October 2026 by Toppen af Danmark with Skagen OK og Motion. Finish for every distance is Fiskehuskajen at Skagen Havn, and the starts are spread through the day: marathon at 10:00, Walk & Talk at 10:10, Grenen Trail at 10:20, half marathon at 11:00 — all from Fiskehuskajen — then 10 km at 13:00 and 5 km at 14:00 from a new start area on Vestre Strandvej by Havnemesterboligen. Bibs are collected at Skagen Kultur- og Fritidscenter, Kirkevej 19, on Friday 15:00–19:00 or on race morning from 08:00.

The road distances are flat and mixed in surface: the half marathon crosses heath, follows the Grenen track and threads the small streets of the old town past Den Tilsandede Kirke, Brøndums Hotel and Drachmanns hus, and the marathon runs that loop twice. The Grenen Trail is the outlier, about 32 km that the organiser itself calls hard: dune plantation, then the beach to Nordstranden, round the tip of Grenen and back by Gl. Skagen and the lighthouses. Pacers run the half at 1:30 to 2:30 and the marathon at 3:30 to 4:15.

With six starts over four hours and two start areas, a family on the quay rarely knows where their runner is. The runner shares their own Livebib broadcast; family open it in a browser, no account or app, and see the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate for Fiskehuskajen that updates as the race goes. If the phone loses signal out on the sand, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated. The runner decides who gets the link.
