Seattle's post Thanksgiving marathon since 1970

The UW Medicine Seattle Marathon and Half Marathon run from Seattle Center to Pier 66 on Sunday 29 November 2026.

The Seattle Marathon began in 1970, when a group of friends from the University of Washington held their own run with fewer than 38 starters. It is always held the weekend after Thanksgiving and has grown into one of the largest mass participation runs in the Pacific Northwest.

The full marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. and the half marathon at 8:30 a.m. from Seattle Center at 5th and Harrison, and both finish at Elliott Hall on Pier 66. The Seattle Kids Marathon is on Saturday 28 November at 9:00 a.m., where children run the last 1.2 miles after completing 25 miles on their own beforehand.

Runners and walkers are both welcome in either race, everyone receives an official time, and only those registered as runners are eligible for awards. Results use net time, with splits recorded along the way. The marathon is a Boston qualifier, and pacers cover many of the qualifying times.

The Health and Fitness Expo is at The Westin Seattle. Spectators can see the start at Seattle Center and then head to the waterfront for the finish at Pier 66.
