Forty seven kilometres of paths, vineyards and sea

The Sciacchetrail returns from 19 to 21 March 2027 with a single distance, the classic 47 km loop from Monterosso al Mare through the Cinque Terre National Park.

The race is organised by the Polisportiva Cinque Terre, and the course even runs through the winery where the famous Sciacchetrà wine is made. For 2027 the organiser has kept only the classic 47 km. The course has about 2,600 m of climbing, is 90% path, 5% road and 5% path rated for experienced hikers, and must be completed within 10 hours.

The start is at 07:30 on Saturday 20 March in Piazza Garibaldi in the old centre of Monterosso. The route climbs Punta Mesco, runs to the Colle di Gritta and the sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Reggio, and reaches the high point on Monte Malpertuso at about 750 m on the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre. From the Colle del Telegrafo it drops to Riomaggiore, climbs the Beccara stairway, passes through the Cantina Sociale del Groppo winery, then visits Manarola, Volastra, Corniglia and Vernazza before returning to Monterosso. Cut offs are at the Telegrafo at 12:30 and Manarola at 14:30.

Places are limited to 300 starters drawn by lottery, plus invited elite athletes, and entrants need a minimum ITRA or UTMB performance index. The minimum age is 20. Bibs are collected on Friday 19 March in Piazza Tina Anselmi, with the briefing at 16:30.

The race suits experienced trail athletes who can handle steep steps and technical descents. Spectators can watch the field pass through the villages along the way, and Monterosso sees both the start and the finish.
