Rock 'n' Roll San Diego, live.

The original Rock 'n' Roll, back in San Diego each June

Rock 'n' Roll San Diego, billed by the series as The Original Rock 'n' Roll, returns to San Diego on 5 and 6 June 2027.

This is the San Diego stop of the Rock 'n' Roll Running Series, and the organiser presents it as the race where the series began. The 2027 weekend opens with the 5K on Saturday 5 June, and the marathon and the half marathon follow on Sunday 6 June.

The organiser says the 2027 courses are coming soon. On the most recent edition both the marathon and the half marathon started next to Balboa Park, at Sixth Avenue and Quince Street, and finished Downtown at Ash Street and Union Street, with the full distance passing through eight San Diego neighbourhoods. The 5K was a tour of Balboa Park on foot. The marathon had a 7 hour time limit and the half marathon 4 hours.

Entry includes a finisher medal, a personalised bib, live music on the course and access to the Finish Line Festival with its encore concert, according to the registration page. The generous time limits make the marathon and the half realistic for steady first timers, while the 5K suits families and people who want a short city run.

Spectators should plan around the start near Balboa Park and the finish Downtown, and check the organiser's course and traffic pages for the 2027 routes before race weekend.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. That position comes from the participant, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
