The PTR 17 is the one race that does not start in town. It leaves Fazenda Bananal and runs point to point to the finish in Paraty, across rural ground and lush sections of Atlantic Forest on what the organiser calls preserved and little-explored trails. The terrain mixes roads, trails and river crossings, and the course loses more height than it gains: 550 m up, 626 m down.

The organiser describes it as fast and challenging with low technical demands, aimed both at experienced runners who want a short, quick race and at those running in the mountains for the first time. The 14:00 start puts it in the afternoon heat, and the 4 h 30 limit leaves the slowest finishers coming in around dusk. Bring shoes that cope with water.

Supporters will mostly wait in Paraty rather than at the farm, so the start is the part nobody sees. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast, opened in a browser with no account or app: position on the course line from Fazenda Bananal onward, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. If the signal drops under the trees, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
