A night race along Ubatuba's beaches

The Etapa Lua is the night stage of the Desafio 28 Praias in Ubatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo state.

The 2026 Etapa Lua runs on Saturday 5 December, organised by XKR Sports. All three distances start at 19:00, each from a different beach, and they all finish at Praia Vermelha do Norte. The finish closes at 23:15.

The 21 km starts at Praia da Toninha, the 10 km at Praia do Itaguá and the 5 km at Praia do Matarazzo. Because the starts are spread along the coast and the finish is shared, participants on every distance arrive at the same place on the same evening.

Running at night by the sea is a different experience from a morning road race, and it suits people who are comfortable running after dark. The 5 km is a friendly introduction, while the 21 km asks for good preparation and patience in the dark.

Friends and family are best placed at Praia Vermelha do Norte, where every distance ends. Plan transport to your start beach in good time, since the three starts are in different places.
