Ouray 50 Mile Endurance Run, live.

The shorter Ouray race, still 23,582 feet of climbing

The Ouray 50 Mile Endurance Run starts at noon on Saturday 14 August 2027 from Fellin Park in Ouray, Colorado, with a 24 hour cutoff.

The Ouray 50 is the companion race to the Ouray 100, organised by Ouray Ultras in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. It has its own date in August, a month after the 100, and starts and finishes at Fellin Park in the middle of town.

The organiser lists 51.9 miles with 23,582 feet of gain. The course runs between a low point of 7,640 feet and a high point of 12,308 feet, with an average elevation of 9,490 feet. Those numbers put it close to a mountain hundred in effort per mile, and the 24 hour cutoff, from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday, means most people will run through the night.

The race shares the philosophy of the 100: low key, old school and a no whining rule for runners, crews and pacers. The organiser publishes section descriptions, aid station directions and a race flow with elevation for the 50 mile course. Part of the event is held on public land under a Forest Service permit.

It suits ultrarunners with mountain experience who want the Ouray terrain without committing to the full 100. Friends and family can wait for finishers in town at Fellin Park.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and official results come from Ouray Ultras.
