Down the Silverado Trail from Calistoga to Napa

The Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon runs down the Silverado Trail on Sunday 7 March 2027.

This point to point race through Napa Valley wine country offers a marathon, a half marathon and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Napa 5K. All courses are USATF certified, and the marathon is a Boston qualifier with a net elevation drop of 303 feet.

The marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. on the Silverado Trail at Brannan Street in Calistoga. The half marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. near Conn Creek, at the halfway point of the full course. The 5K starts at 7:15 a.m. at Vintage High School in Napa, and every race finishes there. Runners are bussed to the start, and there is no parking at either start line.

The course suits anyone chasing a fast time: a review quoted by the organiser describes a gradual downhill with four turns, all in the final four miles. The marathon has a strict 6 hour cutoff, enforced at mile 22.7. There are 12 aid stations and pace groups from 2:55 to 5:50 for the marathon, and each distance sells out.

Spectators should go to Vintage High School, where the awards are presented and the winners receive an etched magnum of wine. The expo is at the Napa Valley Marriott on 5 and 6 March, and live tracking is also offered on the organiser's app.
