Dartmoor climbs from Haldon Hill

The Moor to Sea Sportive starts and finishes at Exeter Racecourse on Saturday 24 April 2027, with four road routes from 36 to 200 miles.

Sportiva Events has run Moor to Sea since 2012, and it returns in 2027 with an earlier April date. Event HQ is Exeter Racecourse at the top of Haldon Hill, just 5 miles from the end of the M5, with free parking, toilets and food.

The Inspire route is 36 miles (57 km) with about 745 m of ascent. The Challenge is 64 miles (103 km) with about 1,700 m, and the Extreme is 110 miles (177 km) with around 3,000 m and gradients up to 20%. The Dartmoor Legend covers 200 miles (320 km) over Dartmoor with around 5,500 m of ascent and a 19 hour time limit. The organiser warns that all four routes finish with quite a tough climb.

The Dartmoor Legend starts at 05:00 am and the three shorter routes from 7.30 am. The Extreme and Challenge include a King and Queen of the Mountain segment on the Haytor Hill Climb. Gold, silver and bronze medals on the shorter routes depend on finishing time, while the Legend medal is for finishing inside the time limit.

Routes are fully marked with arrows, but the organiser strongly recommends loading the GPX onto your device in case signs are tampered with. Entry includes chip timing, feed stations, signed routes, first aid, bike and rider recovery, a bike wash and a post ride massage service, and camping is available at extra cost.

On Livebib you can follow a rider live when they choose to share their own position from the phone they carry. That dot comes from the cyclist, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser after the ride. The organiser also runs its own live tracking on the 200 mile Legend.
