Fifty years of a volunteer run marathon in Lincoln

The Lincoln Marathon celebrates its 50th edition in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Sunday 2 May 2027.

The Lincoln Marathon is organised by the Lincoln Track Club, a volunteer organisation that has promoted running in Lincoln since 1975, and the race keeps an all volunteer tradition. The 2027 edition is the 50th, with the marathon, the half marathon and a 1 mile kids' run. It also hosts the National Guard Marathon Team Trials.

Both main races start at 14th and Vine on the University of Nebraska campus. Wheelchair and rucksack athletes go at 6:55 a.m. and the marathon and half marathon at 7:00 a.m., followed by further waves. Before the start, Cook Pavilion on 14th Street is open for stretching and race day packet pickup.

The race welcomes elite competitors and first timers alike. Prize money and event record bonuses go to the fastest, and the marathon record stands at 2:16:16 for men and 2:38:17 for women. Average May temperatures in Lincoln run from 46°F to 67°F, and the organiser says the race has never been cancelled for weather.

Registration for the 50th edition opens on 5 December 2026. Spectators and athletes can park downtown, south of the start, and in city garages.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. That position comes from the participant, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
