A January marathon and half through the streets of Houston

Houston's marathon weekend on 16 and 17 January 2027 pairs a marathon and a half marathon on USATF certified courses with a Saturday 5K downtown.

The Chevron Houston Marathon and the Aramco Houston Half Marathon are on Sunday 17 January 2027, and the We Are Houston 5K is on Saturday 16 January. The marathon and the half marathon are sold out for 2027. The weekend is run by the Houston Marathon Committee and is the largest single day sporting event in Houston.

The marathon and the half share one start line at Congress and Fannin, with six corrals. Wheelchair and handcycle athletes go at 6:35, the half marathon elite field at 6:45, and the marathon elite field and the open field of both races at 6:55. Corrals C to F follow in a pulsed start to keep the early miles clear. All three courses are USATF certified.

The 5K starts at McKinney and Crawford at 8:00 on Saturday in waves, and every participant must finish within 90 minutes of the last corral start at 8:30. Packet pickup, the expo and athlete services are at the George R. Brown Convention Center downtown.

The organiser counts more than 250,000 spectators along the route, with Hoopla cheer stations of bands, cheer groups, dancers and performers, and Elvis serenading the runners at mile 1. Medical aid is at every refuelling station from mile 2. The streets close and reopen on a rolling schedule as the race passes, so spectators should plan around the closures.
