The Georgia Death Race starts at 5:00 am on Saturday 27 March 2027 at the Byron Herbert Reece Farm near Blairsville and finishes at Amicalola Falls State Park.

The Georgia Death Race is a point to point mountain ultra in North Georgia, organised by Run Bum Tours. The 2027 race is on Saturday 27 March. Participants carry a railroad spike they receive at packet pickup for the whole race and place it in a coffin at the finish.

The course is roughly 74 miles. Until the Long Creek aid station at mile 37 it is almost all single track with relentlessly steep grades. It eases between there and about mile 55, where the long Nimblewill climb on dirt road begins. The last part brings technical single track and, inside Amicalola Falls State Park, a descent of 1,000 feet, a climb of 1,000 feet up the stairs beside the falls and another 1,000 feet down to the finish, with a cold creek crossing at the end.

The overall limit is 25 hours. Pacers are not allowed, poles are allowed after the first aid station and mandatory gear is checked on Friday night. Every entrant must volunteer at least 6 hours of trail work or race volunteering, or make a $20 donation to local trail groups instead. The course records are 11:26:54 for men and 13:31:29 for women.

Packet pickup is mandatory on Friday 26 March at Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge, and buses leave from there for the start at 2:50 am on race morning. Crews follow set driving routes, some aid stations can only be reached by shuttle, and cell coverage is very limited, so print the directions.
