The 50th running over Jacksonville's Green Monster

The 50th running of the Gate River Run 15K is on Saturday 6 March 2027 in downtown Jacksonville, Florida.

The Gate River Run was created in 1978 by the Jacksonville Track Club, now JTC Running, and began as the Jacksonville River Run. It has grown into the largest 15K in the country, it is the USA 15K Championship and it belongs to the PRRO circuit. The 2027 race is the 50th running.

All waves start on Bay Street at Newnan Street. Adaptive athletes and streakers go at 7:50, the top 25 seeded women at 7:55 and the top 300 seeded with wave 1 at 8:00, with waves 2, 3 and 4 following at five minute intervals. The decisive moment comes late, on the Hart Bridge, known as the Green Monster, which starts at mile 7.0 with a 140 foot climb over half a mile. The final mile is mostly downhill.

Participants must reach the Hart Bridge by 10:45, a pace of 20 minutes per mile, so the race works for walkers as well as runners, and every 15K finisher receives a medal. The Pinnacle 5K for Charity starts on Independent Drive in front of Riverfront Plaza and finishes on the riverfront, and half of each 5K entry goes to local charities.

Riverfront Plaza is the hub of race morning, with race day packet pickup from 6:30, the Brooks Rehabilitation Challenge Mile at 10:00 and the Junior River Run at 11:00. Traffic is heavy and parking can be up to a mile from the start, so participants and supporters should arrive early.
