Gasparilla Distance Classic, live.

Out and back along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa

The Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic fills Tampa's Bayshore Boulevard with participants on 20 and 21 February 2027.

The Gasparilla Distance Classic has been run since February 1978 and is organised by the nonprofit Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, which has donated 7 million dollars to youth and running programmes in the Tampa Bay area. More than 725,000 participants have crossed its finish line. The 2027 weekend runs from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 February, with a dog walk on Friday and the expo on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday 20 February starts with the 15K from Brorein Street and Franklin Street downtown, with wheelchair athletes at 6:40 and the seeded runners and wave 1 at 6:45. The course runs south along Bayshore Boulevard to Gandy Boulevard, turns at Quincy Avenue and comes back to the finish at Tarpon Dock on Bayshore. The 5K starts at 9:15 from Brorein Street and Ashley Street.

On Sunday 21 February the half marathon starts at 6:00 from Platt Street and Bayshore Boulevard, and the staging area closes at 5:50. The course loops over Davis Islands, then runs Bayshore to the turnaround at Gandy Boulevard and back to the same finish. The course records are 1:03:08 by Christo Landry in 2017 and 1:12:01 by Sara Hall in 2018. The 8K starts at 9:15 from Bayshore Boulevard and Verne Street.

Bayshore is one of Tampa's best known waterfront roads, with open views of Tampa Bay, and because both long races are out and back, spectators can see participants on the way out and on the way back. The organisers also offer challenge entries that combine races over the weekend.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Gasparilla Distance Classic.
