Falmouth Road Race, live.

Seven seaside miles from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights

The ASICS Falmouth Road Race is on Sunday 15 August 2027, a point to point race of 7 miles along the Cape Cod shore.

The first Falmouth Road Race was held on a rainy 15 August 1973, the 40th birthday of founder Tommy Leonard, with fewer than 100 entrants. It started at the Captain Kidd restaurant in Woods Hole and ended in Falmouth Heights. It celebrated its 50th running in 2022 and has become one of the classic American road races, with winners from around the world.

The course still follows the original idea. From the drawbridge on Water Street in Woods Hole it passes Nobska Light, runs along Surf Drive Beach and Falmouth Harbor and finishes by the ball field in Falmouth Heights, where a huge American flag flies over the finish line. Officially it measures seven miles.

The race uses a pulse start, with small groups released about two minutes apart. In 2026 the wheelchair division started at 7:40, the elite women at 7:50, the elite men and seeded runners at 8:00 and the general field from 8:04, and the organiser lists 8:00 as the start for 2027. There is no parking in Woods Hole, so participants take free buses from the Lawrence School, which in 2026 ran from 5:00 with the last admission at 6:15. The narrow course allows 11,400 runners.

For supporters, the finish area in Falmouth Heights is the place to be, and a bike valet there lets participants ride back after the race. Entry is by application, so watch for the 2027 window.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Falmouth Road Race.
