From the Red Sea up into the desert highlands

Challenge Israman is a winter long distance triathlon in Eilat, Israel, raced on Friday 29 January 2027 from the Red Sea into the desert mountains and back.

With more than 25 years of history, Israman is known for its striking and testing course through the desert highlands. The race weekend runs from 27 to 30 January, with race pack collection, the expo and bike check in at the Isrotel hotels in Eilat before Friday's start.

The 226 starts at 06:10 from the Royal Beach. The swim is a 1,900 m triangle in the Red Sea, swum twice by the full distance field, in water that stays around 22 degrees. The bike leaves Eilat and climbs Road 12 to the desert highland, turns at the Sayarim junction and comes back to T2 at Netafim, and the full distance riders then head out again towards Ovda to complete 180 km. The marathon begins with a long descent on Road 12 into Eilat and finishes with three laps of the promenade along the gulf.

The 113 starts in waves from 07:10. Its athletes swim one lap, leave the bike at T2 after about 91.2 km and run 21.1 km, starting with a 10 km downhill from the mountain to sea level before the promenade section. The first 113 finisher is expected around 11:00 and the first 226 finisher around 16:00.

The finish line, with its stadium atmosphere, is by the Isrotel Royal Garden Hotel, and a free shuttle bus runs to T2 and back during the day. The course stays open until 23:23, so the finish line party runs late into the night.
