100 miles through Washington's Cascade mountains

The Cascade Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run starts and finishes in Easton, Washington, with the start at 8:00 on Friday 16 July 2027.

Cascade Crest is a 100 mile mountain race through Washington's Cascade mountains, founded by Randy Gehrke, who directed it from 1999 to 2005. Jess Mullen has been race director since 2022. The 2027 race starts at 8:00 on Friday 16 July at the Easton Fire Station on Cabin Creek Road, which is also the finish.

The Three Queens Fire began the day before the 2026 race, and the organisers say the alternate out and back course is very likely in 2027. The typical course, a clockwise loop from Easton, includes 30 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, the 2.5 mile Snoqualmie Pass Tunnel and more than 23,000 feet of climbing, from a low point of 2,140 feet in Easton to a high point of 5,840 feet on Thorpe Mountain, and it is about 70 percent trail and 26 percent forest road.

The race runs under a permit in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Entry is by lottery, which opens on 6 December, and dogs have not been allowed on the course since 2023.

The organisers say the race has a deserved reputation as a tough and scenic 100-miler. Runners line up at the Easton Fire House hoping to return to a crowd cheering "Welcome back to Easton" as they cross the finish line.
