Hoodoos and high plateau above Hatch

The Bryce Canyon Ultras start on Saturday 18 September 2027 at Lucky 7 Ranch in Hatch, Utah, with six distances from a half marathon to 100 miles.

The Bryce Canyon Ultras are produced by Aravaipa Running on the northern half and western edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau in southern Utah. The courses weave through hoodoos, forests, canyons and open high country, and most miles are between 7,000 and 9,000 feet, which adds to every climb.

The 50 mile course leaves Lucky 7 Ranch toward Proctor Canyon on doubletrack, joins the Grandview Trail along the rim and climbs into a hoodoo amphitheater. It then crosses the plateau beside the Sevier River before joining the Thunder Mountain Trail at Coyote Hollow for short ridges and a steep descent through vividly colored hoodoos, and returns over ranch land. The organiser lists 50.2 miles and about 6,512 feet of gain. The 100 mile race is two loops of that course, with about 14,002 feet of gain.

All races start on Saturday 18 September: the 100 mile at 5:00 am, the 50 mile at 5:30 am, the 60K at 6:00 am, the 50K at 6:30 am, the 30K at 7:00 am and the half marathon at 8:00 am. The 60K is 37.4 miles, the 50K 33.2 miles, the 30K 19.3 miles and the half marathon 14.0 miles.

The start and finish staging area at Lucky 7 Ranch is the only place at the event where spectators are allowed, and 100 mile participants pass through it between their two loops. Only pacers and crew are allowed at the aid stations, and the race is cupless.
