Bay to Breakers crosses San Francisco on Sunday 16 May 2027, from the bay downtown to the breakers at Ocean Beach.

Bay to Breakers is San Francisco's historic footrace and has been run since 1912. It is part race and part street party, and the field mixes people chasing a time with runners in costumes and team centipedes. The 2027 edition is on Sunday 16 May.

Every distance starts at the intersection of Howard Street and Fremont Street in downtown San Francisco. The first wave leaves at 8:00 and the last at 8:45. The 12K, about 7.45 miles, passes through nine of the city's neighbourhoods and ends on the Great Highway where the waves break at Ocean Beach. The 15K Breakers Bonus adds 3 km along the Great Highway for people who want more distance and a second medal.

The course closes at 12:30 at JFK Drive and Chain of Lakes in Golden Gate Park, and the finish line closes at 1:00 pm. Bib pickup is at the expo at Sports Basement Stonestown from Thursday 13 to Saturday 15 May. Gear check is only included with the VIP add on.

Spectators line much of the route, and the finish festival runs from 8:00 to 1:00 at 2100 Martin Luther King Jr Drive with music and a beer garden. Many roads near the start are closed, so plan to reach downtown early and arrive 45 to 60 minutes before your wave.
