A new date and a new course for Atlanta's marathon

Atlanta Track Club holds the 2027 Atlanta Marathon Weekend on 6 and 7 March in downtown Atlanta.

Atlanta Marathon Weekend moves to a new date in 2027 and comes with a new course, and the club says more information is on the way. The 5K and the youth events are on Saturday 6 March, and the full and half marathon are on Sunday 7 March, all based in downtown Atlanta.

The marathon is a qualifying race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Rankings, which gives it weight for people chasing a ranking as well as a finish. Entry fees rise in steps through the season, from 130 dollars for the first 500 marathon entrants to 220 dollars at the expo, and there are no guaranteed entries at the expo, so it pays to sign up early.

Children aged 14 and under have their own programme on Saturday, with a 5K, a 3K and a short dash, plus a track and field zone, and they can run more than one distance. That makes the weekend a family trip as much as a race, with the youngsters racing on Saturday and the adults on Sunday.

Because the course is new for 2027, check the published route before choosing where to watch or where to meet after the finish. Atlanta Track Club also runs a training programme for the marathon and the half marathon over the winter.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from Atlanta Track Club.
