A hundred kilometres over the Apennines through one night

The 100 km del Passatore is a road ultramarathon from Florence to Faenza across the Apennines, run since 1973.

The 52nd edition starts on Saturday 22 May 2027 at 15:00 from Piazza Duomo in Florence. The finish is in Piazza del Popolo in Faenza, which closes at 11:00 on Sunday 23 May, so the time limit is 20 hours. The field is capped at 3,500 runners, and entries open on 4 November 2026.

The course is entirely on tarmac, on state and provincial roads through Fiesole, Borgo San Lorenzo, Marradi and Brisighella, with a marker every 5 km and a sign at the marathon point. It climbs over the Apennines at Passo Colla, around km 48. There are cut-offs at Vetta le Croci, Borgo San Lorenzo, Passo Colla, Casaglia, Marradi and Brisighella, and refreshments roughly every 5 km and at the finish.

It suits experienced long distance runners who are ready for a long climb, a long night and a descent into Romagna. Runners must be born in 2007 or earlier, and the race is on the national FIDAL calendar. Some arrive in Faenza in the evening, others the next morning, and everyone runs through the same night.

Supporters can see the start in Piazza Duomo in Florence on Saturday afternoon and wait in Piazza del Popolo in Faenza from the evening onwards. The organiser also runs relays, school projects and a charity entry for End Polio Now around the race.
