Guthrie Wineglass Marathon, live.

Bath to Corning, and a medal made of glass

A one-way marathon through the small towns of the Southern Finger Lakes, finishing on Historic Market Street in Corning, New York.

The 2026 Guthrie Wineglass Marathon, the 45th edition, ran on Sunday 4 October. The marathon starts in Bath at 8:15 a.m.; the Wegmans Wineglass Half Marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. in Campbell, which the organiser describes as the marathon’s halfway point. Both run one way, through several small towns and along country roads, to the same finish on Historic Market Street in Corning. The first Wineglass Marathon was run in 1982 with 291 runners.

The organiser calls the course fast and flat. The half has a published net elevation drop of 40 feet, and the full course sits within Boston’s net-downhill limit with no adjustment needed for a qualifying time. The time limit is 6.5 hours for the marathon and 7 hours for the half. Every finisher receives a hand-crafted glass medal — fitting for a race that ends in Corning. Runners reach both starts by bus from Corning or Bath, so the start is a long way from the finish.

That shape makes it a hard race to watch: the start is a bus ride away, and the road between the towns is long. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast, and the family waiting on Market Street open it in a browser with no app or account. They see where on the line the runner is, how far they have come, and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. If the phone loses signal on a country road, the position is carried forward along the course and marked estimated instead of freezing. The runner decides who gets the link.
