Limestone shore, Lake Travis, last race of the season

The ÖTILLÖ swimrun that closes the US season, run in and out of Lake Travis along the limestone shoreline of Pace Bend Park in the Texas Hill Country.

ÖTILLÖ Austin is raced on Sunday 8 November 2026 from Camp Texlake at Pace Bend Park, in western Travis County about an hour north-west of Austin’s airport. The park has more than nine miles of Lake Travis shoreline, with high limestone cliffs and rocky coves on its west side, and an interior that is a wildlife preserve reached only on foot, by bike or on horseback. The organiser describes the courses as single-track forest trail, shoreline rock and, depending on the water level, a cliff jump. It is the last race of the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun USA season.

There are three distances. The World Series is about 25 km: 4,290 m of swimming in six swims and 21,520 m of running in seven runs, with 263 m of climbing. The Sprint is about 16 km, with 2,880 m of swimming in four swims and 13,510 m of running in five runs. The Experience is about 10 km, with 1,590 m of swimming in two swims and 8,300 m of running in three runs. The swims stay within arm’s reach of the shoreline. The World Series starts at 07:00, the Sprint and Experience at 07:15, and all distances close at 14:00 at the finish. Everyone swims in a wetsuit and carries a whistle, a compression bandage and a tether.

Swimrun is hard to follow from the shore, because nobody can stand everywhere along nine miles of coves. On Livebib the athlete shares a link to their own broadcast, and family open it in a browser, without an account or an app, to see the position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates through the morning. During the swims, when a phone sealed in a pouch can lose its fix, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated rather than freezing at the water’s edge.
