Four massifs around Grenoble in one July week

The Ultra Tour des 4 Massifs links the four mountain ranges that ring Grenoble, with races that start and finish close to the city.

The UT4M runs from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 July 2027 around Grenoble. The 2026 race was its 14th edition, and the organiser opens registration for 2027 in mid-December 2026. Each race is named after the massif it crosses: Vercors, Taillefer, Belledonne and Chartreuse.

The headline race is the Ut4M 180 Xtrem, which takes in all four massifs in one go. The organiser gives it 173.8 km with 11,510 m of climbing and the same again in descent, with about one vertical kilometre per massif. The 180 Challenge covers the same idea in four stages, one massif a day. Below that come the 100 Master, the 80 Challenge, two 50 km races in Belledonne and Taillefer, two 40 km races in Vercors and Chartreuse, and four races of 20 km, one of them run at night in Chartreuse.

In 2026 the 40 Vercors climbed 2,700 m between Seyssins and Saint-Nizier, and the 100 Master ran from the Parc d'Uriage to the historic centre of Grenoble. The organiser adjusts routes for snow, heat or fire risk, as it did in 2026.

The organiser calls the 180 Xtrem certainly the hardest of the 100 milers, a very technical course run in one go, and its final stretch passes the Bastille before reaching the historic centre of Grenoble. The 20 Chartreuse has the particularity of being run at night, with a panorama over the illuminated valley.
