Marathon du Beaujolais, live.

Marathon du Beaujolais, 21–22 November 2026: marathon Fleurie–Villefranche-sur-Saône, half, 13 km, and 15, 24 and 43 km trails from Gleizé.

Villefranche-sur-Saône / Gleizé · November 21, 2026

Twelve châteaux and cuvages in 42 kilometres

A marathon where six runners in ten are in costume, and the road from start to finish runs through the wine estates’ own cellars.

The 22nd Marathon du Beaujolais runs on 21–22 November 2026, and the organiser counts 33,000 participants from 98 countries over the weekend. Saturday is road day: the marathon leaves Fleurie at 8:30 in three waves and crosses more than twelve villages to Villefranche-sur-Saône. The half marathon and the 13 km du Rhône are loops that start and finish in Villefranche the same day.

The marathon passes twelve châteaux and cuvages — wine-making cellars — among them Corcelles, Pizay and Ravatys, with Beaujolais nouveau tastings along the way. The time limit is 7 hours 30 minutes, and the organiser says 60 per cent of runners race in costume. On Sunday the weekend moves onto trails: 15, 24 and 43 km from Gleizé with 200, 500 and 1,300 metres of climbing, through villages including Dénicé, Montmelas and Lacenas.

This is a race where the time is not always the point, and family want to know where in the vineyards their runner is rather than her placing. With a Livebib link the runner shares, they see her position on the course line, the distance and an estimated finish that keeps updating — marked as estimated, never as measured. Whoever is waiting in Villefranche can see when to head for the finish. No app and no account needed.
