Two start lines for the first 600 metres

A marathon so big that the organiser splits the start across two quays, just so the first six hundred metres flow.

The 35th Marathon de La Rochelle Serge Vigot runs on Sunday 29 November 2026; the race has existed since 1991. The marathon is sold out at 10,000 runners and starts at 9:00 from two places at once. Seniors, Master 0–1 and handisport line up on Quai Maubec; Master 2–10, the Duo relay and the company relay on Quai Louis Durand. Each start has four pens, set by target time and age.

The 10 km, also sold out at 3,500 runners, starts fifteen minutes earlier at 8:45 on Avenue du Général Leclerc and finishes at the foot of La Rochelle’s towers. The marathon has nine aid stations: km 4.5, 9.5, 14.5, 19, 25, 30.5, 35, 40.5 (water only) and the finish. The time limit is 5 hours 30 minutes. Pacers run from 2:45 to 4:30, two per target — one from each start.

The finish area is on the Saint-Jean-d’Acre car park, reached via the Tour de la Chaîne, with a free 500-seat grandstand. Meeting points after the finish are on Rue de La Monnaie, marked by columns named Ré, Oléron and Aix.
