The early season race on the UBC campus

The UBC Triathlon Duathlon is a race on the University of British Columbia campus in Vancouver on Saturday 6 March 2027, with the swim indoors at the UBC Aquatic Centre.

The organiser calls it British Columbia's longest running triathlon and the first outdoor triathlon of the year in BC. Because the swim is in the pool, the race can open the season in early March, with the bike and run outdoors on campus.

The standard triathlon is a 1500 m swim, a 40 km bike over four laps and a 10 km run over four laps. The sprint, the most popular distance, is 700 m, 20 km over two laps and 5 km over two laps, and it is also used for the relay of two or three people and the collegiate race. The short triathlon is 400 m, 10 km and 5 km. The duathlon is a 5 km run, 20 km bike and 5 km run, and the adult aquathlon, new in 2027, is a 700 m swim and a 5 km run along Main Mall.

There is a first time triathlete programme and a youth race, which makes this a good place to try multisport. Swim time limits apply, for example 28 minutes on the sprint, relay, aquathlon and youth distances.

Registration closes on 31 January 2027, and race package pickup and the expo are on Thursday 4 March. Heat schedules are posted in late February or early March.
