Fjord swim, Trollveggen ride and a run to the sky
Trollveggen Triathlon is a short and steep triathlon in Åndalsnes at the bottom of Romsdalen, starting at 12:00 on Saturday 26 June 2027.
The race is part of Norsk Fjellfestival and was first held in 2009. It has been held every year since, except in 2020. Athletes swim in the refreshing Romsdalsfjorden, cycle to the foot of Trollveggen and in to Isfjorden, and run to the finish on Høgaksla.
The swim is two laps of 600 m in the harbour basin in the centre of Åndalsnes, close to land and to the spectators. T1 and T2 are in the same place, in front of the town hall. The bike leg starts in the town centre, climbs up to Trollveggen, returns to Åndalsnes and then does a loop to Isfjorden, 53 km with 600 m of climbing.
The run is the steepest part of the day. After the first kilometre on asphalt there are 2 km and 700 m of climbing up to Aksla, and from there it is 1.7 km more to the finish on Høgaksla at 990 m above sea level. The organiser gives the run as 4.5 km with 990 m of climbing. A home-baked bun and a cola wait at the top, and you can take the gondola down from Aksla.
All the swimming takes place close to land and to the spectators in the centre of Åndalsnes. Entry opens in February 2027, with the exact date still to come, and the organiser keeps full results back to 2016.
On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry during the race. That is the athlete's own sharing and not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
