Juniper, Loveland and Vail Pass in one day on the bike

The Triple Bypass crosses three Colorado mountain passes between Evergreen and Avon on Saturday 10 July 2027.

One July day in 1988 a group of cyclists decided to ride from Evergreen to the Vail Valley, and the Triple Bypass grew from there. It is produced by Shift Events, a non profit that donates a substantial part of its earnings to community projects. The organiser is clear that this is a ride and not a race, though riders carry numbers and results are published.

The 2027 Triple is announced at 120 miles with 10,800 feet of climbing, leaving Buchanan Park in Evergreen and travelling over Juniper, Loveland and Vail passes to the finish in Avon. The Double covers 80 miles, starting in Empire with a mass start and merging onto the Triple route before Loveland and Vail passes. The route is closed, and support vehicles are not allowed on it.

This is a big day for fit, experienced riders. In 2026 the Triple had five aid stations, the Double three, and cutoff times were enforced at each aid station, with the last at Vail Pass at 7:00 p.m. Riders who leave before sunrise must carry front and rear lights.

Friends and family can watch at designated spectator locations and at the finish party in Avon. Registration for 2027 opens in January.

On Livebib you can follow a rider who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry on the bike. That position comes from the rider, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
