The organiser gives 29 km and 800 m of climbing, and almost all of it comes in the first half. From Barr the trail rises steeply into the first foothills of the Vosges, through old forest past the castles of Landsberg (km 5) and Birkenfels (km 11). It then follows the Chemin de Croix, the Way of the Cross, up to Hohenbourg Abbey on top of Mont Sainte-Odile, around km 15.

From there the organiser describes a fast, wild descent past the ruins of Niedermunster Abbey (km 17, food), a drinks stop in Ottrott village (km 23) and the run-in to Obernai. With the climbing done early, the last third is quick. The organiser’s timing table puts the fastest at the finish around 14:45 and the last before 19:45.
