The organiser presents it as the way for young trail runners to discover their very first “by UTMB” race. The numbers are short but not flat: 400 m of climbing in 10.5 km, and most of it at once. From Châtenois, at about 200 m, the course climbs to Le Hahnenberg, around 526 m, where a drinks station waits at about km 3.8.

After the top the loop comes back down to Châtenois, where the finish has food. It is the same village where the two ultras stop for hot food the day before, on their way to Obernai. The organiser’s timing table expects the fastest home around 17:30, and the 2-hour limit closes the course at 18:45.

On Livebib, parents and friends at the finish see the runner’s position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates on the way down from the Hahnenberg. If the phone loses signal in the trees, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
