Obstacles by the Firth of Forth

Tough Mudder Scotland is a one day obstacle event at Hopetoun Estate in South Queensferry, about 35 minutes from Edinburgh, on Saturday 5 June 2027.

Three formats run on the day. The 15K has more than 20 obstacles, the 5K more than 12, and Infinity lets racers lap the course again and again within the time allowed. Start waves fill from the early morning, so teams book them in advance.

The course runs along the shores of the Firth of Forth through woodland trails and constant changes of terrain. The organiser warns that the ground is naturally waterlogged, so the paths turn to heavy mud once you come out of the water, and pacing matters more than speed.

The weekend is shared with Spartan, which races on the same estate on Sunday 6 June, so some people come for both brands. Tough Mudder is made for teams who help each other over walls and through water, and for first timers who want a challenge without racing for a place.

Finishers receive the 2027 Hex System medal, a shirt, the orange headband and a drink. Kids by Spartan offers courses of 1, 1.5 and 3 km for ages 4 to 14, and spectator tickets are sold for supporters who come to cheer.
