Along the Yoshino River from Tokushima to Naruto

The Tokushima Marathon follows the banks of the Yoshino River and finishes at a stadium in Naruto.

Tokushima Marathon 2027 is on Sunday 14 March 2027. It is also the open marathon of Tokushima Prefecture for the World Masters Games 2027 Kansai. Wave 1 starts at 8:20, wave 2 at 8:30, and racing closes at 15:00, which gives a limit of 6 hours 30 minutes from the second wave.

The course starts in front of Tokugin Tomoni Arena, turns on the Tamiya Kaido, and reaches the Yoshino River at the south end of the Yoshino River Bridge. It follows the south bank levee road, crosses the Shirasagi Ohashi Bridge, turns near the river mouth and comes back along the north bank. From there it passes through Kitajima town and on along the Naruto Ikeda road to the finish at Pocari Sweat Stadium. Certification by World Athletics, AIMS and the Japan Association of Athletics Federations is planned, and there are 11 checkpoints.

There are 8,500 places on a first come basis, including 800 athlete places for men with 3 hours 30 minutes and women with 4 hours, and 1,500 places reserved for Tokushima residents. Entrants must be 18 or older on race day. Much of the route follows the levee roads on both banks of the river, and the field ranges from first timers to athletes with qualifying times.

Finishers receive an original Tokushima Marathon medal and finisher towel. The finish is in Naruto, not in Tokushima city, so supporters and runners should plan the trip back in advance.
